Have you heard of Martin Margiela?
Given that we are talking about the most mysterious avant-garde fashion designer of the
20th century—someone who questioned, innovated and revolutionised the world of fashion without
a second thought—the answer is probably yes.
Charo is the first project to be published by La Ribagorzana, a brand created by an anonymous
collector who spent ten years of his life putting together one of the most impressive collections ever
seen by tracking down 250 of the most striking Margiela designs from all over the world.
Ably assisted by photographer Daniel Riera, this avid collector has now created a work of poetry in
pictures in which he shares his close ties to the collection and reveals the breathtaking setting where
it has been housed: an abandoned 16th-century abbey nestling in the magical mountains of Charo,
in the Pyrenees in Huesca.
The result is a limited-edition, 330-page hardback book printed on luxury paper and presented in a
beautiful slipcase. Careful attention has been paid to every last detail, making this hand-bound book
a work of art in itself and far more than a mere compilation or catalogue.
Charo is not a book. It is a tribute to fashion, Margiela, art and poetry. Above all, it is the best way a
collector can bid farewell to a unique, never-to-be-repeated collection.
We have already sold over half of the 400 individually numbered copies, but one of the remaining
